YOU LIT MY FIRE,  I’LL LIGHT THY PYRE

(Indeed) by a non smoker for a tobacco free world
I was in my college, day one rankles me till this day,
We, the forty students, indeed  in a state of bedlam
The bell rang at four, we all dashed for the exit way,
One of the lions got me, entangled in  clasp of sham,

I stood in silence, then he asked me about smoking.
I was given one,a four inch long dressed in white ,
He asked me to light the one,me  miserably failing
He lit that and I was asked  a deep puff of intake

I choked, choked and fell down in a dizzy state,
Indeed that was my first and last puff till date,
This was four dozen years ago, to the present date.
Lots of smoke filled the air hence, at furious rate.

Now the hue and cry everywhere against the demon,
Pleading to demote smoking and abolish the habit,
Yes, this evil some, habit is deep rooted, its well known,
Entrenched, wicked with active and passive intent.

The puff, the pleasure of it , is short lived, they all say,
Affecting all systems of the human cell, a silent killer,
That spoils the society and spirals surely to doom say,
We lit it for pleasure, it will certainly light our pyre.
