From Crackle to Calm:

 A Diwali Reflection

The sky is dark, the air is so chill,

Night awaiting the morning still.

Buzzing streets, a moonless gleam,

City stirred up in a festive dream.

My hearts beat  fast, a silent cry,

For sparks to burst and light the sky.

Signals sought, a flare  sure to rise,

A thunderous joy beneath the skies.

Five dozen years now rewind clear,

Teenage thrills and festive cheer.

New clothes arrived, a cracker list,

Trimmed by budgets, dreams persist.

Diwali came, alas no sleep, no rest,

Who needs alarms when joy’s expressed?

Booms from near and far resound,

Smoke and sparks the senses, drown.

Now years have flown, the night is still,

Across the seas, remains a silent chill.

No bursts, no bangs, just quiet grace,

I miss those noises, the youthful chase.

From vibrant youth to mellowed age,

Life turns over a calm, reflective page.

The loud, the soft, both play their part,

A balanced life, indeed a wiser heart.

WISHING A HAPPY AND SAFE DIWALI  FROM CALIFORNIA..
