A BLIND SPOT TRAGEDY
... a tearful homage to the unfortunate souls
[This portrait is made of photos of all the doctors and nurses in the world who lost their lives during the pandemic period]

We build castles in air, during our entire lifetime,
Its a humane and natural instinct, not for fame,
Impossible and the easier ones for that matter
Yet, they will crumble at one time or the other,

We can digest all this, dismissing them as destiny,
Barring the accidents, manmade or disharmony,
Barring the diseases that our lifestyle oft invites,
Still cherish to live enough to build more castles.

Nature too at times, do play havoc with disasters,
Cyclone, Tsunami, Monsoon and torrid summers,
They’ve played their roles with perfection so far,
Trimming at will, the population explosion at par.

Microorganisms oft, do hold a Damocles sword,
Bacteria and viruses too, do work overboard,
Quell and suppress the hapless denizens at will,
Sweeping them off the floor at regular interval.

Unyielding Corona is threatening, still on the air,
Born in China this year, now a worldwide affair,
Captivating and crushing with relentless march,
Killing at will, instilling insecurity beyond match.

More than a crore worldwide, is feeling its pinch,
One in twenty already perished under its clutch,
Social distancing denying a final farewell hugs,
A decent burial denied for these hapless souls.

Worse is in store for the hapless medical fraternity ,
Sworn by the Hippocratic oath, to treat the needy,
Fifty scores of doctors, an equal number of nurses,
Had sacrificed their lives, all in their prime careers.

Masking the masquerading virus, not a remedy,
Much awaited vaccine, not yet out of the kitty,
The search is on, the drugs on trail and on trial,
Sense of fear growing, enveloping us without fail.

Masks do cover one’s mouth, can’t seal it forever,
Many die every day, our eyes quiver with fear,
Youths die in plenty jolting a nation’s progress,
Problems aplenty, triggering an economic crisis.

War is not over, the battle field strewn with corpses,
Counts by the minute, suspecting our own senses,
None is immune at present, not even thy shadow,
Our blind spot looms large, warning a foreshadow
LOVE NEVER EVER DIES YET SHOWS US MANY FACES….

Childhood indeed is an incredible phase in our life,
Passions and love often dominate a naughty stride,
Early years do ooze an incredible charm and smile,
Yearning, praying for a second innings for our life.

Here was one such girl of eight, in an incessant cry,
Parents couldn’t pacify her, none could even try,
She had a Barbie doll, her intimate friend all day,
It dined, whined with her, always sharing her bed.

Changed her dress oft, kissed and even spoke to her,
Enjoyed her company and even carried her to school,
Parted ways one day, as it fell from a moving train,
From that day, she was always in a solemn mood.

Her teacher saw her bad temper, consoled her pain
They began the search on the rail track, found none,
The search continued the next day, ending in vain,
Teacher, was sick with a broken family and all alone.

Girl was moved by his sincerity ,being tender to her
An idea struck him, the next day in their exploration,
He told her that the doll had sent a letter to her,
It had informed her that it had gone on a vacation.

Showed her a letter of proof, a false story in narration,
It had words to pacify the girl and about her adventure,
Girl’s mood was changed , eager to hear the sensation ,
Teacher sensed this, added more to her liking for sure

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE..

We, in white coats and, oft swear by the Hippocrates’oath,
Follow the ethics, all laid down before our divine path,
See the sick and infirm in all forms and in colored cloth,
Reducing their morbidity, revive the cheers henceforth.

Despite our efforts, we sincerely forget to laugh for once,
Sick will come and go, we all presume to go full distance ,
One replacing the other, yet we think of an immortal gaze,
Corona lesson proved otherwise, the immortality is a haze.

We learned the physiology of laughter, never in practice,
Few moments of laughter, sees more tensions in release,
Heart beats faster, gas exchanges fast, to swing with ease,
Ten seconds of laughter gives two hours of sleep in peace.

This day every year, hailed to remind us the forgotten art,
The brain does release endorphins to enhance the start,
Cortisol on the rise, loosens our knots, indeed free of cost,
Make it an habit, do practice it hoping for a better part.``

DIVIDED WE GAIN …UNITED WE REFRAIN

The age old aphorism, united we stand ,divided we fall, now in jeopardy,
Of late the world has gone topsy turvy thanks to an ubiquitous menace,
The talk of the town, forget, the whole world is quivering in its custody,
Crowning the whole world by land, air or seas, the corona and its vise.

Cricket is a great leveler, they oft say, Hear, Corona is a great champion
Prince and the pauper, Minister and the mundane, all now in detention,
Forced to forego earthly pleasures, Mercedes, Audis  all in the stallion,
Rooted firmly, rarely enjoying homely exile, idling, with no exception.

Laws of the land rewritten, everyone is in the pangs of imminent death,
Social distancing, suspicion of one’s own shadow, the watchword of late
Everywhere, lock down is reigning supreme, enforced by word of mouth.
Most of works done from home, works well with techies of every state.

Office works slowed down, permitting enforced absence and in standstill,
Every hospital is full, their staff working tirelessly, so too the Khaki men,
Earning the brickbats for their efficiency, yearning for the desire and skill,
Sacrificing their own safety, sweating for the welfare of their brethren.

Forget a minute about them, just ponder where all these lead us to, finally,
Forced by law to stay away from work or to stay away from their surround,
Remain detached from all, yet to join hands to fight this deadly calamity,
Divided by law to stay united, a paradox, for the society to remain sound.

Think about the aftermath, this may work well as a short term measure,
The global recession downsizing the workforce everywhere and more,
Loss of the dollar leading to depression and stress related nightmare
It needs a Herculean task, globally to reconstruct us from the quagmire.
