THE MOTHER OF CHARITY
                                           ~ A tribute to a sublime life

Someone Beautiful For God- Mother Teresa - St Martin Apostolate

Measure not one’s Greatness by assets, but by their sacrifices
We remember many noble persons, for their love of humanity
Standing tall, some inspire and breathe for the downtrodden,
When this cult is evident since youth, they’re indeed immortal

Here is one, truly the mother of all greatness and selflessness,
The last century gave birth to the torch bearer of humanity,
That world had never seen, opting motherhood for the poor,
Who taught the world the definition of poverty, to the word.

Unwanted, unloved, and uncared, as the epitome of poverty,
Indeed, love was her mother tongue, smile her real password,
How could else can define her, an albanian, and a born nun,
Indeed she got attracted to missionary work all in early teen,

Teacher, she became, later to spread the gospel of sublime love
Was hurt by the poverty of the world, thus a goal was set,
On a mission she undertook pilgrimage, landed in our nation,
Was eighteen then, baptized year later as nun, remaining so,

India, it became her motherland, teaching and learning Bengali,
Christened her as Teresa, continued her work for the poorest,
By touching the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted,
She showed us one should not be ashamed or slow to do that.

Homes for dying, letting them to die like angels with dignity,
Nirmal Hriday, free hospice for the poor, the unattended sick
Shanti  nagar for neglected lepers, treated with utmost care
Children’s house for the destitute and deprived and orphans

Her missionaries soon all over the world, she was a messiah
Over five hundreds in all, allover, with ramifications around,
Greeting every one with smile, always her symbol of love, Ah!
Paradox is, the more you love, never hurts more, to rebound,

The Highest civilian award Bharat Ratna was duly bestowed
Recipient of many a honor, our nation greeted her in glee,
These awards, a miniscule for a life sacrificed  for the uncared
So too, these words, I am humbled by her service, I salute thee.
